Who We Are
How it started
MMO was originally the Midtown Memphis Development Corporation, which was formed from members of the Heart of the Arts group that worked to create the theatre district in Overton Square. They realized that there was a need for midtowners to be engaged in the development process to help guide Midtown’s growth.
Today
MidtownMemphis.org is actively involved in numerous initiatives and development projects throughout various Midtown districts. Our board remains dedicated to the original vision that inspired us years ago, and we are excited to continue growing alongside the community we cherish.
What We Do
Plant Trees. Expand the canopy, cool neighborhoods, improve the environment through Shade is Cool campaign.
Support Local Business. Promote Midtown merchants through Midtown Monday and partnerships.
Protect Neighborhood Character. Advocate for thoughtful development and neighborhood-based planning.
Celebrate Midtown’s Story. Host the Mojo of Midtown Awards, honor local culture, highlight community leaders.
Build Community. Engage volunteers, gather neighbors, connect diverse stakeholders.
Revitalize Corridors. Improve Madison Avenue with trees, art, and walkability.
