Memphis 3.0 Compromise Presented to City Mayor and Council Chairwoman

MidtownMemphis.org has developed a Compromise Proposal for the Memphis 3.0 update. We agree with much of Memphis 3.0, including the support of its "build up, not out" essence, and respecting the work done to date by DPD and citizens at the district level. However, before the general plan creates specific land uses, we want to see Memphis 3.0's Small Area Plans conducted at the neighborhood level with community input. In other words, instead of blindly changing land uses, we want DPD to actually look at present uses and work with neighborhoods to determine how best to accomplish 3.0's goals. You can watch a video of our Compromise Proposal here

To date, we have shared our Memphis 3.0 Compromise Proposal with Mayor Young and City Council Chairwoman Jana Swearengen-Washington. We will be meeting with more City Council representatives, and with other city and county officials. The Division of Planning and Development declined to meet with us, saying that the position of Director hasn't been permanently named since John Zeanah vacated it.
